Kin Bees

Award Winning Honey and Hive Management

In the last five years the bee population has dropped by a third. If bees were to disappear from the face of the Earth, humans would have just four years left to live.

BEE THE SOLUTION 2023

We’re passionate about our bees and pollinators and constantly encouraged by the positive feedback from everyone we meet on our bee-keeping journey. One of the most common questions I get asked is “what can I do to help our bees?” and there’s a lot we, as individuals and businesses, can do from planting pollinator-friendly flowers that bloom late into the Summer to only buying real honey that can be traced back to the beekeeper.

So we put our big thinking caps on because we wanted to go that one step further and give our local environment enthusiasts a greater opportunity to get involved in improving biodiversity and supporting their local bees - and they don’t come more local than Kin. Buzzing bees from our brightly painted hives can be found on shrubs in The Glen, flowering herbs in the kitchen garden at Abbott House, and even in hanging planters on our High Street!

Our 2023 Hive Spononorhsip Scheme builds on last years sucess and puts the bees at the forefront of our plans and we are looking to increase the number of bee colonies in the local area while actively highlighting the need for increased forage and reduction of pesticide use.

We have some fantastic Early Adopters already on board - come join them!

Bees for Business

  • You will be responsible for the creation of a new bee colony - you can even name the queen - and we can paint the new hive in your corporate colours. Directly adding to our local pollinator numbers and increasing biodiversity.

  • Kin will build the new hive with all of the frames and foundation required and install the bee colony at our local apiary, then look after the bees throughout the year for you.

  • We’ll have a plaque printed up with your loco and placed on your beehive so all those worker bees know which hive is theirs!

  • Your business name and logo will be seen across our own social media channels throughout the year.

  • We’ll send you photographs and updates on what’s happening in the hive throughout the year which you are free to use on your website or social media - the bees work as a team just like yours and our current sponsors have found employee engagement in the bees is extremely high.

  • And best of all you’ll receive 5 jars of delicious pure honey from your hive at the end of the Summer harvest.

Caution: Beekeeper at work!

Bee Individual

  • You will be supporting an existing colony of honeybees helping to ensure their survival throughout the year ahead.

  • Your support will keep the bees healthy, safe and pest-free throughout the year so they can pollinate the fruits on trees and plants that our amazing local wildlife need for survival.

  • You will be directly contributing to helping increase our declining bee population.

  • A plaque with your name will be placed on your beehive and we’ll send you a photograph which you’re free to share.

  • And best of all you’ll receive 3 jars of delicious pure honey from your hive at the end of the Summer harvest.
