Kin Bees

Award Winning Honey and Hive Management

If bees were to disappear from the face of the Earth, humans would have just four years to live.
— Sir David Attenborough

The first time I looked inside a beehive I was completely hooked.

A chance encounter led me to a sunny Perthshire hillside with my heart nervously pounding in my ears as a slight puff of wood smoke wafted across the hive entrance and the roof was carefully lifted off. I had never seen anything so mesmerizing or so beautiful and now a part-time hobby has developed into a slight obsession and an award-winning business.

Restoring the Biome

The Kin bees are part of an amazing NEW local farming project at Urquhart Farms to restore the natural biome of the soil using traditional methods while moving away from the fertiliser/pesticide regimes of recent decades. As the traditional Scottish Wildflower Meadow enters its third year we can’t wait to see even more bees, butterflies, hover flies and moths take up residence in this rewilded haven.

Even better, it involves Scottish heritage breeds of Highland Cows, Scotch Dumpie Chickens and Black Faced Sheep.

Sponsored by GAC UK, we’ll be posting regular updates on our social media as the Project progresses.

Rewilding with Rachel’s Farm

Now in its second year the bees have settled in well at the amazing rewilding project at Rachel’s Farm Retreat. With over 2000 flowering trees planted so far we can’t wait to watch this barren area come back to life for generations to come with the help of the bees!

HIVE SPONSORSHIP & MANAGEMENT

While many companies and individuals love bees and want to support our pollinators within their green spaces not everyone has the time or the bravery to keep their own Hives. Enter Kin Bees!

We have some fantastic hive sponsors on board supporting the colonies within our existing apiaries and we also look after hives on private land for companies, eco retreats, rewilding projects, and even some high-profile celebs, providing sustainable services for our clients and increasing bee and pollinator diversity across Scotland.

If you’d like to know how we can support your sustainability goals then please get in touch.
