It’s swarm season!
If you’ve spotted a honeybee swarm, then firstly, thank you for helping it find a new home - only 20% of swarms will survive without intervention.
Unfortunately, we cannot collect any more swarms this year (2025) as our West Fife apiaries are now full - please contact the Dunfermline Amateur Beekeepers using their monitored email address Dunfermlineandwestfifebeekeepersassociation@hotmail.com with your location and a contact number (a photo is always helpful too!) and they’ll get back to you as soon as they can to assist.
If you have bees in your home, such as a roof space, then we recommend Loch Ness Honey Bee Removal Services. As Scotland’s premier licensed professional bee removers, they can be contacted on +44 7796 952908.
If you are worried about Bumblebees then please visit the Bumblebee Conservation Trust website for information. Unfortunately, beekeepers can not assist with bumblebees and our advice would be to leave them alone as they really need our help! Once all the baby bumbles have hatched they’ll fly off and you can move or remove the wee nest. Solitary bees (often living is walls or cracks in steps) and bumbles don’t usually cause any damage to buildings and rarely are aggressive or sting (unless you go poking at them!).
