August: Saturday 23rd (just added) & Sunday 24th
new dates may bee added
Whether you just love bees and want to know more or you’re thinking about becoming a beekeeper and are looking for an introduction to keeping bees as a hobby, the Kin Beekeeping Experience is a great place to start.
Come and visit one of our apiaries with beekeeper Gael who’s passionate about the subject and will introduce you to the amazing world of the honeybee. From setting up a hive to the bee lifecycle Gael will talk you through the ins and outs and ups and downs of bees. You’ll have the chance to get hands on inside a hive and take part in a full colony inspection (good luck spotting the Queen Bee!) all under her careful guidance followed by tea and shortbread in the apiary. Just remember - the only wrong beekeeping question is the one you didn’t ask!
A fantastic experience for you or a perfect gift for outdoorsy people! 2hr session
Price is per person (over 12 years old) and I’ve purposely kept the numbers small (max 8 adults per session) so that we have the time for a real hands-on experience. Please be aware that hive inspections are totally weather-dependent (bees can perish in the rain so we can’t open hives if it’s too wet or windy) so dates are subject to change but I will endeavor to fit everyone on at a suitable date.
Are you a large group who’d all like to come together? Please get in touch as we’ll do our very best to accommodate you on a suitable date!
You will receive a voucher and a packet of Scottish Wildflower Seeds so you can help support pollinators in your own area. You will also receive a private booking link so you can reserve your space/s on your chosen date (dates released 1st October) , and additional information regarding clothing and safety - we provide a bee suit and protective gloves and recommend you wear wellies and long sleeve/leg clothing under your suit and tie long hair back.
A Disclaimer form will also be included to you which must be read, signed and brought with you to your session. You can find a copy here.
