The Worker Bee

The backbone of the bee colony. Worker bees start the minute they’re born by cleaning out the cell they’ve hatched from ready for the queen to lay a new sister egg in right away. From that moment they transition through a number of different roles in their short life.

The Queen

The most important bee in a colony is the queen and there can be only one! Without her, the colony is doomed to dwindle and die. Despite her importance, she makes no decisions and 3everything is done for her. While worker bees live for 6 weeks she can live for 4 years.

Drones

Drones are the male bees who only live for a few weeks each Summer. Their only job is to mate with newly hatched Queen Bees. By Autumn all of the bees in hive are female and it will stay like that until late Spring.
